Freelance Electrical Engineer | Petrochemical Industry | Dutch Speaking

About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Freelance Electrical Engineer to join ongoing petrochemical projects in Belgium. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, coordination, and commissioning of complex electrical systems within industrial environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and review electrical systems, layouts, and schematics using EPLAN and Caneco.Prepare cable schedules, single-line diagrams, and load calculations.Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning activities on site.Ensure compliance with Belgian and EU standards (AREI/RGIE, IEC, ATEX).Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, instrumentation, automation).Participate in risk analysis, documentation, and quality control processes.Profile / RequirementsDegree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).Minimum 5 years of experience in the petrochemical, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.Proficiency in EPLAN and Caneco BT (essential).Strong understanding of industrial power distribution, MCCs, and hazardous area design.Knowledge of automation and control systems is an asset.Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is an advantage.Legally able to operate as a freelancer (valid VAT number) in Belgium or the EU.OfferCompetitive daily freelance rate, depending on experience.Hybrid work possible depending on project phase.Chance to collaborate with leading engineering firms and major petrochemical operators.
