Freelance Quality Assurance Specialist (Food & Beverage)

We are working with a well-established food and beverage company seeking a Freelance Quality Assurance Specialist to provide interim support to their quality and compliance team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a professional with a strong technical background in food safety and quality assurance who enjoys working across production and supply processes.The successful candidate will help ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the company’s continued commitment to excellence.Location: South Holland, NetherlandsDuration: 10 monthsContract: FreelanceIndustry: Food & BeverageLanguages: Dutch and/or English fluentKey ResponsibilitiesSupport the maintenance and improvement of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).Carry out internal quality and hygiene checks within production areas.Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and certifications.Monitor production and ensure traceability across raw materials and finished goods.Identify and report any non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.Assist in the implementation of HACCP procedures and food safety plans.Provide quality-related guidance and training to production staff.Liaise with suppliers and internal teams regarding product quality and specifications.RequirementsDegree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.Minimum 2 years’ experience in a quality assurance or quality control role within the food and beverage industry.Sound knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety legislation.Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.Desirable SkillsFamiliarity with BRCGS, ISO 22000, or ISO 9001 standards.Experience supporting audits and implementing CAPA processes.Knowledge of sustainability or environmental initiatives in food production.Interested?
