Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight & Customs Agent to join our Customs & Freight team at our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Basel. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely coordination of inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with all Swiss and international customs regulations. You will play a key role in keeping aircraft maintenance projects on track by securing the fast and compliant flow of materials and spare parts across the borders.Your Daily Tasks & ResponsibilitiesDeclaring customs clearance for imports with E-doc import/export in accordance with legal requirementsHandling transit T1/T2 Status documents in cooperation with customs agent with consideration of the expiry dateOrganising Customs declaration for temporary admission (ZAVV-Freipass) and obtains customs guarantees from external partners if necessaryResponsible for determining Commodity Code (HS) for new part numbers in AMOS and obtaining and updating binding customs tariff information in the customs databaseResponsible for maintaining accurate and organized records of import and export activities, import- and export permits according to the legal requirementsAttends training/events to stay informed about changes in trade agreements, tariff rates, customs procedures, and other relevant information that may affect import and export activitiesProactive monitoring of the customs and freight business units with initiation of support measures in the event of potential delivery delaysDevelopment and optimisation of new and existing customs processesLiaises with various freight forwarders as well as other third parties for the best rates/conditionsProvides support during inspections by customs and tax authoritiesClaim Drawback and Claim Import Duty Refund from CustomsEnsuring all duties and taxes are charged and paid for in accordance with our agreed termsApplying for Certificate of non-objection with Elic (electronic licensing system / SECO)Applying for import permits (FEDPOL, Carbura)Procurement of Swiss Carnet ATA via the Chamber of Commerce/PartnerThe expertise you have & skills you bring Completed vocational training in freight forwarding, customs, logistics, or a related fieldProven experience with minimum 3 years experiance in customs and freight handling, ideally within the aviation or industrial sectorStrong knowledge of Swiss customs regulations and international trade complianceExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work under time pressure and adapt quickly to changing prioritiesStrong communication skills in English (spoken and written); German and/or French is a strong advantageProficient with MS Office and AMOS software systemsWhat we offer you (among other things)Working in an owner-managed, young and dynamic company with hands-on mentality Multifaceted, challenging and responsible position within an exclusive environmentAttractive employment conditions and social benefits like 5 weeks of holidays (6 weeks as of 50 years) Free on-site English lessons and individual further training and development opportunitiesSubsidized meals in our canteen, as well as parking spaces (or free shuttle bus transports) and other employee discounts (Fleets, Bars & Restaurants etc.)In case of relocation: application for work permits through us / support with relocationCorporate events like our famous annual Christmas Party and the summer BBQAdditional informationGeneral working place: Hangar Facilities at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg
