Location: UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic, Santry, Dublin 9Job type: Full-time Contract of EmploymentPrimary Duties And ResponsibilitiesWelcomes patients and their familiesprofessionally and delivers excellence in the administration of the patientepisode all through the Admissions process.Ensures thatthe patient is properly identified and that all records including patient wristband, medical record and computer record match, and are verified as correct bythe patient.Ensures allpaperwork including insurance documentation is accurate, signed and in orderprior to patient leaving the Admissions Department. Ensures that allexcess payments are deducted as necessary.Rotatesbetween reception, admissions, operations (including scheduling patientadmissions, cancellations, time changes and pre-admission of patients) asrequired. Verifies patient's insurance details as required.Performsswitchboard duties and answers the telephone professionally and according topolicy.To ensure theseamless administration of the patient admission from first contact to handoverto clinical colleagues.Treatscolleagues, patients, families and visitors with dignity and respect at alltimes.Drive qualityand ensure it is compliant to relevant standards. Reception duties as partof your duties ensuring all calls and queries are answered.Admissions ofpatients to Inpatient Ward and Day ward.Preparingcharts for following day and ensuring letters are filed in charts.Maintain anawareness of the privacy of patients in relation to all activities.Create aculture of accountability openness to change; respect for the individual andTeamwork that supports the achievement of our goals.Activelyparticipate in the Clinic's accreditation programme and the ethos of continuousquality improvement and implement and maintain procedures in the department.Ensureincidents, near misses, involving patients and staff are documented andreported in accordance with the Clinic's procedures and guidelines.Advise theatrestaff of any changes to theatre list regarding additional cases, cancellationsetc.Effectivecommunication with all personnel contributing to patient care within theclinic.Liaiseeffectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that caredelivery is patient focused and of the highest standard.Demonstrateinitiative and be receptive to new ideas and development.Displayqualities of leadership and good communication with all users of service andother service providers.Welcomes change and participates in theimplementation of new processes and procedures that will enhance departmentalefficiency and effectiveness.Maintains patient confidentialityat all times and is discrete in all dealings with patients and theirfamilies.Qualifications & ExperienceEducated to Leaving Certificate Level or equivalentPerson Specification Accurate data entry and keyboard skills. Previous experience of working within anacute/clinical setting desirable.
