In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown. Payroll ClerkThe Payroll Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role involves maintaining payroll records, verifying employee time and attendance, calculating wages, handling deductions, and assisting with payroll reporting.
The Payroll Clerk ensures compliance with company policies, labor laws, and tax regulations while maintaining strict confidentiality of employee information. Key ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis as required. Review and verify timesheets, attendance, and overtime records. Calculate employee wages, deductions, benefits, and adjustments. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as income tax, social security, and other deductions. Prepare and distribute pay slips, direct deposit information, and payroll reports. Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update changes such as new hires, terminations, promotions, or transfers. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.
Assist with year-end reporting, including tax forms and reconciliations. Support audits and ensure proper documentation of payroll processes. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information. Qualifications/Skills And ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business is an asset). 1-2 years working as a Payroll Clerk/ AssistantBasic knowledge of accounting principles and payroll best practices. Familiarity with payroll software and Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency required). Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Good organizational and time-management skills.
