Ref: A000881Transformational Risk & Compliance role Industry-leading Aged Care OrganisationStrategic Leadership Role with Enterprise-Wide ImpactLocation: Hobart – Relocation Package Available The CompanyRobert Half Executive Search has been exclusively retained by one of Tasmania’s leading aged care providers to appoint a strategic and hands-on General Manager Risk & Compliance to provide executive leadership and strategic oversight across its enterprise risk, compliance, quality, and governance functions. The role will be based in Hobart, with relocation assistance provided.As one of the state’s largest not-for-profit aged care providers, offering aged care, retirement living, home care, respite, and allied health services across multiple sites, the organisation is built on a culture of kindness, openness, adaptability, respect, and enjoyment at work.The Role Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board, this role acts as a trusted advisor, promoting ethical decision making, organisational integrity and resilience.You will lead the development of robust frameworks and processes that underpin statutory compliance, governance excellence, and a strong risk culture. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on influencing strategy and embedding best practice across the organisation.Key Areas of FocusEnterprise Risk Management & Governance Lead the Enterprise Risk Management Framework aligned to Board-approved risk appetite.Maintain and monitor the enterprise risk register and emerging risks.Promote a strong risk and compliance culture through education and transparent reporting.Legal & Compliance Ensure compliance with key legislation including the Aged Care Act 2024, Corporations Act, ACNC requirements, WHS, Privacy, and Fair Work Acts.Provide in-house legal advice and manage contractual and governance matters.Quality & Continuous Improvement Drive the organisation’s Quality and Continuous Improvement Framework.Ensure policies and procedures remain current, compliant, and aligned with best practice. Oversee compliance audits and embed consumer and workforce feedback into quality initiatives.Board Support Maintain statutory registers, declarations of interest, and other corporate governance records. Advise on governance practices and statutory obligations.Support director induction, governance training, and transparent Board reporting.Reporting & Assurance Deliver timely, accurate, evidence-based reports to CEO, Executive, and Board Committees on risk, compliance, governance, and legal matters. Coordinate internal/external audits, accreditation, and regulatory reviews. Provide independent assurance to the Board that statutory obligations, governance requirements, and risk frameworks are effective.Your Profile The ideal candidate is an experienced senior leader with a strong background in risk, governance, and compliance within complex organisations, combining strategic thinking with practical solutions and can influence at Board and Executive level. While aged care experience is highly desirable, experience in aligned regulated industries such as health, social and community services (NDIS), child services, or not-for-profit is also highly relevant.A strong cultural alignment with this organisation and its purpose will be key to success and as such a genuine passion to work in this sector is essential.In addition, they will bring:Tertiary qualifications in Law, Risk Management, Governance, Business or related discipline. Postgraduate or professional qualifications (e.g., GAICD, GIA, CPA, CA, MBA) is desirable.Minimum 5 years’ senior leadership experience overseeing risk, compliance, quality, and governance ideally in an aged care environment. Expert knowledge of statutory and regulatory obligations relevant to aged care and not-for-profit sectors. Proven ability to design and embed integrated risk and compliance frameworks. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with capacity to prioritise organisational risks and compliance considerations into strategic planning and business decisions.Skilled in interpreting complex legislation and providing practical, solutions-focused advice at Executive and Board levelAn understanding of the compliance requirements within the Aged Care Act 2024, prudential standards, ASIC, and ACNC requirements would be advantageous.Ability to build trusted relationships with regulators, auditors, Boards, and operational leaders.
