About TCGTCG is an emerging sustainability brand grounded in scientific research and material innovation. Our mission is to provide stylish, well-designed, and reasonably priced sustainable clothing to consumers who are looking for a better alternative. We hope to bring new materials, new processes, and new ideas out of the lab and into the marketplace.We currently operate retail stores in Hong Kong and are expanding across Japan and East Asia. Our goal is to become a leading regional omni-channel brand. In Japan, our small but highly experienced startup team includes suppliers, designers, and operations professionals from across Asia. We have launched several pop-ups in Tokyo and are preparing to open additional stores — including a flagship location — in the coming months.TCG is now seeking a General Manager for Japan to lead our local team and drive the next phase of the brand’s growth.About the RoleThe General Manager (GM) will oversee all aspects of TCG’s business operations in Japan. This is a rare opportunity to build, shape, and scale a high-growth retail brand from the ground up.Key ResponsibilitiesRetail & Store OperationsOversee day-to-day operations of existing storesLead site evaluation, planning, and execution for new store openingsEnsure operational excellence and consistent brand experience across all locationsTeam Leadership & Organizational DevelopmentBuild and lead retail, operations, and online business teamsEstablish core functional teams in marketing, HR, and finance to support long-term growthFoster a positive, high-performance company cultureBusiness Strategy & Cross-Functional CoordinationCollaborate closely with the product design team to support smooth product line development and seasonal planningDrive the development of Japan’s online business and digital commerce operationsServe as a key liaison between the Japan team and regional/global leadershipManagement & ReportingManage weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to the Board and senior managementImplement clear communication and workflow processes across all functional teamsIdentify business risks and opportunities and recommend strategic actionsQualifications & RequirementsLanguage AbilityFluent in Japanese (required)Fluent in Chinese and/or English (at least one required; both preferred)Professional ExperienceExperience in apparel, fashion, lifestyle, or related retail industriesPrevious experience working with or within multinational companies in JapanProven ability to scale fast-growing businesses, ideally within a startup or entrepreneurial environmentStrong leadership skills with the ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environmentPersonal AttributesEntrepreneurial mindset and a hands-on approachStrong communication skills and a collaborative working styleAbility to build and lead cross-functional teamsEmployment TermsOne-year contract with annual renewal optionPerformance-based bonus structureCompetitive compensation aligned with experience and market standards
