Generator Berlin Mitte is right in the heart of the city. Formerly two 19th century office buildings, it’s now fused into one arts-focused über hostel. And it’s all within stress-free walking distance of Hackescher Markt, Alexanderplatz and Kunsthaus Tacheles. For art enthusiasts, the hostel includes a sculptural string installation by French artist Sebastian Preschoux and corridors filled with super-sized signature faces by Thierry Noir. NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE JOBTo provide assistance to the Head Chef/Sous Chef to help ensure the smooth running of foodservice operationsTo create high quality food to meet guest expectations and to maintain company standardsTo anticipate guests’ needs and provide service to the level they requirePreparing, cooking and presenting dishes within your specialityManaging and training any commis working with youMonitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit marginsGive input to the Head Chef on menu creativity with the courage to try something different and deliver innovative, locally inspired food & beverage offerings appropriate to the guest communityKeep up to date with local food trendsCarry out all preparatory tasks ensuring good quality produce at all timesTo constantly improve product knowledge to maximize revenue and service providedKnow all statutory legislation and ensure H&S and Fire Safety complianceEnsuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safetyNaturally this is not intended as an exhaustive list of duties.
