SUMMARY: Responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing the overall operations of the branch office for a civil engineering firm. This includes directing technical performance, managing financial health, ensuring quality deliverables, and fostering business development. The Branch Manager plans, examines, analyzes, and evaluates the effectiveness of branch operations and leads the branch team to deliver superior service, technical excellence, and profitable performance.

This role also includes responsibilities typically associated with a Project Manager—managing specific civil engineering projects, coordinating internal teams, and acting as the client point-of-contact from concept to completion. SUPERVISION EXERCISED/RECEIVED: Immediate Supervisor: PresidentDirect Supervisory Responsibility: Department / Practice Group ManagersESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Plans, examines, analyzes, and evaluates the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the branch office. Preforms Project management level responsibilities as needed to meet minimum billable utilization requirements. Responsible for the technical conduct of the branch, ensuring compliance with the quality systems manual, compliance, and innovation in all engineering and construction materials testing services.

Ensure the Branch maintains and/or obtains relevant agency accreditation. Reviews and approves the quality and content of project documentation, and reports. Manages all financial aspects of the branch office, including budgeting, invoicing, collections, forecasting, and reporting. Effectively controls costs through the economical use of personnel, materials, and equipment to improve branch profitability. Develops and monitors conformance with the branch's annual budget and exercises sound judgment in controlling expenses. Builds and maintains relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and the local community to promote the firm's services and drive new business.

Monitors contract review, negotiation, and approval processes for all branch projects to ensure clarity, risk management, and profitability. Trains, mentors, and develops branch staff to enhance technical capabilities, career growth, and team performance. Identifies and resolves operational and technical issues promptly and professionally. Coordinates with internal departments and corporate leadership on cross-functional initiatives, strategic planning, and organizational improvements. Supports and promotes a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Preforms Project management level responsibilities as needed. Operate in a safety sensitive position (Construction site), around heavy machinery with limited supervision.

Ability to obtain and maintain various certifications (through written and performance-based testing) as required by jurisdictional requirements to meet Branch requirements. Conducts various field tests and inspections on construction sites, including but not limited to concreteKnowledge of safety policies and procedures and adheres to a safety-first culture and PPE requirements. Performs other duties as assigned by executive management. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field requiredMinimum of 8–10 years of experience in civil engineering, construction materials testing, or a related field. QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES):

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field required; PE license or like registration. Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in civil engineering, construction materials testing, or a related field. Proven leadership and management experience, preferably in a branch or regional office setting. Strong knowledge of construction practices, engineering standards, and quality assurance protocols. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong business acumen with the ability to manage budgets, P&L statements, and client relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant engineering software. Ability to travel locally as required and visit job sites. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE:

Professional Engineering LicensurePHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: Majority of work will be performed indoor, but unknown but possible frequent outdoor work in all ranges of inclement weather. Must be able to continuously maneuver uneven terrain. May exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently. The job duties require physical activities such as: talking, hearing, seeing, driving (to and from job sites), standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying. Must be able to talk at a capacity where one can frequently convey detailed or important information accurately, or quickly.

Visual and hearing abilities that allow one to safely perform job duties on active construction sites and around heavy machinery. Finger dexterity and ability to use repetitive movements using wrists, hands, or fingers.
