Position Title: Social Worker – Independent Child Protection Advisor (ICPA)Location: Saint LuciaReports To: Project Director / Service ManagerContract Type: Part-timeStart Date: October 2025 Girls of A Feather (GOAF) is seeking qualified part-time Social Workers for a two-year contract to serve as victim support aides for children affected by abuse.  RequirementsSocial Work or Psychology degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience engaging with youth/children and their familiesWeekdays and weekend availability to meet clients and family.

Ability to work flexibly and with autonomyUnderstanding of the Criminal Justice SystemWorking understanding of St Lucia legislation around child abuseStrong digital proficiencyExcellent written and verbal communication skills DesirablePrevious experience in a similar role supporting children and young peopleExperience in support delivery over wide geographical areasExperience in the use of electronic case management systemsRequires ability and willingness to drive to multiple locations as part of job duties Independent Child Protection Advocate – ICPA in St Lucia – Role DescriptionTo provide a proactive service to children and young people who have experienced abuse, this may include sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglectThe ICPA will work within a multi-agency setting to ensure all agencies do their part and co-ordinate their work to keep victims safe and engaged with services.

ICPAs work with survivors and other agencies and monitor the care pathway ensuring a link between the criminal justice system, statutory safeguarding and child protection processes and the victim and their families, acting as an independent advocate throughout. The post holder must complete training to be recognised as qualified and will be considered a trainee until that point.

 Caseload DutiesProvide a proactive service and advice to victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglectRisk assess/needs assess and regularly review the assessments in keeping with the resultsExplain housing, civil and criminal legal options to the child/parents and carers and empower them to make their own choicesAttend, prepare and present reports at the monthly multi-agency meetings, including child protection case conferences, both as a support for clients and parents/carers and as a professional presenting a report, dependent on circumstancesUndertake safety planning with clients and their parents/carers (crisis and long-term)Develop an individual service plan to meet individual risks and needsEnsure that clients and parents/carers receive the appropriate services and responses to which they are entitledUnderstand the legal framework relating to the protection of children, and work within the policies and procedures of the Local Safeguarding protocols whilst supporting clients and parents/carers within this processSupport clients and parents/carers through the Criminal and Civil Justice Systems, explaining the procedures and their role and rights within that systemHelp clients and parents/carers to develop their own support networkRefer on and arrange meetings with other agencies/services as necessaryManage a caseload and maintain an up-to-date record of all cases on an electronic case management systemWork within internal policies, procedures and protocols to ensure that the safety of the child and their parent/carer is kept central to any processKeep other relevant agencies informed about important changes in clients and parents/carers’ situationsRefer recurring difficulties clients and parents/carers are having to manage and contribute to efforts to improve procedures and servicesAct as an advocate for the child and parents/carers at all timesGeneralAs the role is new, the postholder will be expected to raise awareness of the services available to a wide audience including professionals and the publicWork within the organisation’s policies and procedures at all timesUndertake all relevant duties commensurate with the level of this post Applicants working with or employed by judicial services may be considered under specific circumstances.
