From high-speed roads to local improvements, we deliver safe, efficient, and community-minded projects across the UK.About The RoleAs a GIS Technician at Carnell, you’ll provide specialist maintenance and support services that support safety and efficiency for the UK’s highway infrastructure. For over two decades, major public and private sector customers have relied on us for cost effective, sustainable innovations that help the successful operation and maintenance of their network assets.What You’ll DoUndergo ArcGIS and OS19X training and coaching to enable skills to be developed.Producing ESRI shapefiles for importing into ArcGIS, error checking and exporting to AutoCAD which will form part of the Asset Inventory and Condition Report.Assists other GIS Technicians/Manager in producing ESRI shapefiles.Completes work using various specialist software including ArcGIS.Quality control/checking on ESRI and ArcGIS shapefiles.Ensures that ESRI shapefiles are completed to a high standard and comply with all necessary legal and contractual requirements.The role will also include OS19X processing to Manual of Sewer Condition Classification (5th Edition) specification.Work as part of a team in an efficient office environment and can work without supervision.Work with the Technical Services Manager to meet project deadlines, and relevant management targets.Communicate with other work colleagues.Assist in activities as necessary and other duties as assigned.Actively participate in weekly/monthly meetings.Maintaining up to date knowledge of the GIS sector including software developments.Be involved in performance reviews and assessments.The above duties are commensurate of the position, it may be expected to vary the role as and when the business requires it.What We Are Looking ForGood IT skills with a knowledge of a range of different computer packages e.g. Word and Excel.Knowledge of Access Databases preferred but not essential.Knowledge of ArcGIS and OS19X preferred but not essential.GCSE Grade A-C Maths, Science & English preferred but not essential.Good communication and Interpersonal skills to effectively deal with a wide range of customers, contractors and other members of staff.Ability to work individually and as an effective team member.At Carnell we value diversity and encourage all qualified candidates to apply.What You’ll GetGenerous holiday allowance to help you rechargePension scheme to support your futurePrivate medical insurance for peace of mindGroup income protection & death in service benefitDisability ConfidentAs a Disability Confident employer, we welcome applications from disabled candidates.
