We are partnering with a prestigious development financial institution in Qatar to identify a highly experienced and strategic leader for the role of Financial Risk Modeler. This individual will play a mission-critical role in developing and governing advanced financial risk models that support strategic decision-making, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business growth. The role blends hands-on quantitative expertise with cross-functional leadership and model governance at the enterprise level. Key ResponsibilitiesModel Development & ValidationLead the design and maintenance of models across credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk, including economic capital and stress-testing frameworks.
Develop advanced statistical tools that support risk appetite, capital allocation, and risk-based pricing. Own documentation, governance, and committee approvals (Risk Committee, ALCO) for all models. Model Risk ManagementImplement a robust model risk framework, including validation protocols and model lifecycle governance. Ensure regulatory compliance (Basel III/IV, IFRS 9) and prepare audit-ready model documentation. Coordinate model reviews, monitor performance, and mitigate potential model risk. Risk Analytics & InsightsBuild and maintain executive dashboards and risk reporting tools to visualize exposure and trends. Collaborate with IT and Finance to ensure timely, accurate data integration for analysis and reporting.
Deliver key insights to Senior Management, ALCO, and Board stakeholders. Strategic Projects & Cross-Functional LeadershipManage key modelling and analytics projects including regulatory implementations (e. g. , QCB circulars). Act as a central liaison between Risk, Finance, Business, Strategy, and Technology teams. People LeadershipLead and mentor a growing team of quantitative analysts and model developers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional knowledge sharing. Oversee performance reviews, hiring, training, and employee engagement initiatives. Information Security & ComplianceEnsure alignment with QDB’s data governance, privacy, and information security policies. Promote cybersecurity awareness and proactively address security risks in data and model use.
Candidate ProfileEducation & CertificationMaster’s or PhD in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related discipline. FRM, PRM, CFA, or similar certifications preferred. ExperienceMinimum 8+ years of experience in quantitative modelling and risk analytics within banking or financial consulting. Prior exposure to development finance or multilateral banks is a strong advantage. Deep understanding of Basel frameworks, ICAAP, IFRS 9, and stress testing methodologies. Skills & ToolsProficiency in Python, R, SAS, or MATLAB for model development. Experience with data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and enterprise risk systems. Advanced analytical thinking and stakeholder communication abilities. LanguagesEnglish – Advanced (mandatory)Arabic – Preferred
