Job Description

QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field. 5-7+ years of progressive EHS experience in a Consumer-Packaged Goods Manufacturing arena, including responsibility for multiple sites. Track record of driving a proactive safety culture and implementing effective, sustainable EHS programs. CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist). EHS management systems ISO 14001, ISO 45001. The Regional Safety and Environmental Leader plays a critical role in supporting plant leadership while driving safety and environmental compliance across multiple sites within a designated region.

This position ensures alignment with company standards, fosters a proactive safety culture, and leads continuous improvement initiatives. The role encompasses regulatory compliance, training, auditing, incident investigation, and environmental management, all while serving as a key liaison across departments and with regulatory bodies. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Program OversightChampion the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs across all regional sites. Act as the primary contact for regional safety and environmental matters, providing hands-on guidance and mentorship to on-site safety specialists and EHS coordinators. Lead emergency preparedness and response planning efforts across the region.

Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all applicable state and local regulations. Oversee environmental compliance, including waste management, air and water permitting, hazardous material handling, and sustainability initiatives. Conduct and document safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; ensure timely corrective actions are taken and tracked. Incident Management & ReportingLead all incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive measures. Maintain accurate records of workplace incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions by company policy and regulatory requirements. Monitor regional EHS metrics, analyze trends, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership.

Training & Culture BuildingDevelop and deliver comprehensive safety and environmental training programs, including new hire onboarding, OSHA-required sessions, and job-specific courses. Support and coach managers and supervisors on behavior-based safety practices and the reinforcement of safety principles. Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings, maintaining agendas, attendance, and meeting notes. Documentation & Administrative DutiesMaintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and other compliance documentation. Coordinate workers’ compensation activities, including claims management and return-to-work programs. Support the planning and execution of emergency drills and collaborate with local emergency response teams.

Operations SupportOversee third-party security vendor compliance and manage site access protocols. Ensure proper maintenance of first aid stations, biohazard disposal systems, and first responder equipment. Participate in new site start-ups, expansions, and closures to ensure EHS risks are identified and mitigated.
