From Tokadeh the ore is transported by rail to Buchanan for eventual shipment out of Liberia. ArcelorMittal currently undergoing a massive Phase II expansion project which is set to be a game changer. The project, with a capacity of 15 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate, is making steady progress and is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2024. The project consists of a state-of-the-art concentrator plant along with augmentation of the existing rail and port infrastructure to support the production and shipping of concentrated ore.

The RoleThe Lead Fuel Management Buchanan is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fuel operations at the Buchanan Port. This role involves managing fuel procurement, storage, distribution, quality control, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
The Lead Fuel Management Buchanan ensures a reliable and cost-effective fuel supply to support port operations, optimizes fuel management practices, and leads a team of fuel technicians. The Key ResponsibilitiesFuel Procurement and Supply Chain Management: Develop and implement strategies for fuel procurement, including sourcing, negotiation, and contracting, specifically for the Buchanan Port operations. Manage relationships with fuel suppliers to ensure reliable supply, competitive pricing, and adherence to quality specifications. Optimize the fuel supply chain to minimize costs, improve efficiency, and ensure timely delivery to the Buchanan Port.
Monitor fuel market trends and provide forecasts to inform procurement decisions related to Buchanan. Fuel Storage and Distribution at Buchanan: Oversee the operation and maintenance of fuel storage facilities at Buchanan, including tanks, pipelines, and dispensing systems. Ensure the safe and efficient distribution of fuel to various port operations and equipment within Buchanan. Resolve personnel issues and conflicts in a fair and timely manner within the Buchanan fuel team. Budget and Cost Control: Develop and manage the fuel management budget for Buchanan Port, including procurement costs, operating expenses, and capital expenditures. Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize fuel-related expenses for Buchanan operations. Ensure that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently within the Buchanan fuel management function. Project Management and Improvement: Manage projects related to fuel infrastructure improvements or expansions at Buchanan. Identify opportunities to improve fuel management processes, efficiency, and safety at Buchanan.
Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance fuel operations at Buchanan Port. The RequirementsBachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in fuel management within a heavy industrial setting. Strong knowledge of fuel properties, handling, storage, and distribution systems.
