Environmental Officer

Role DetailsThe Environment department of Damang Gold Mine is seeking to employ a self-motivated person to fill the above position. He/ She will assist in implementing all Environmental Management programs and use his/her knowledge and skills to assist the department to achieve its compliance obligations. About the role:

Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual environmental reporting to Environmental Protection Agency, Minerals Commission & Water Resources CommissionCoordinate weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to Gold FieldsResponsible for sitewide water management and compliance to water use KPIsAssist with all permitting and compliance activities of the departmentResponsible for sitewide waste management and achievement of waste KPIsResponsible for environmental compliance at the gold processing plant and its environsCoordinate climate change mitigation and adaption actionsCollate, analyze and report on water and waste management dataAssist in environmental incident investigation and reportingAssist in sitewide environmental induction and competency trainingEnsure compliance with the Water Resources Commission permit conditionsAssist in internal environmental audits and inspectionsAbout you:

A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Sustainability/Natural Resources Management or related programsHave a minimum of four years relevant experienceKnowledge of relevant legislation, mine standards and codes of practiceExtensive knowledge in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management SystemsRelevant experience in a Surface Mining EnvironmentPossess at least Health, Safety and Environment Officer Certificate of Competency from the Minerals CommissionComputer literacy in MS Word, Excel and Power PointMedical fitness for the position and environmentA valid Ghanaian driver’s license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle
