Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.About The QIMR Berghofer Grants OfficeThe QIMR Berghofer Grants Office sits in the Research Governance and Funding portfolio and supports the full lifecycle of research grants at QIMR Berghofer from pipelining through close out. As part of the pre-award team, you will be responsible for helping researchers find support for their research to advance better health and wellbeing.Role Purpose / ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Senior Manager, Research Grants, the Grants Officer (Pre-Award) plays a key role in supporting the preparation, review and submission of competitive research funding applications.You will work closely with researchers to ensure applications are compliant, accurate, and strategically positioned for success. You will interpret funding guidelines, coordinate input from key internal stakeholders such as Ethics, Legal and Business Development, and liaise directly with funding agencies throughout the application, assessment and award processes.You will also be responsible for developing and promoting internal funding resources and opportunities, and delivering information sessions to researchers and programs. The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives by refining processes, policies and workflows within Research Governance and Funding. In addition, you will prepare reports and provide advice to senior leadership as required, while ensuring compliance with relevant governance and work health and safety obligations.About YouTo be successful in this position you will hold tertiary qualifications and/or possess equivalent relevant experience, with demonstrated experience in grant administration within a medical research or tertiary education environment. You bring strong knowledge of major Australian funding schemes, including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), or Australian Research Council (ARC), along with experience preparing or reviewing competitive research grant applications.You are highly organised and able to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines with strong attention to detail and sound problem-solving skills. Your written and verbal communication skills are well developed, and you are confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation. You are equally comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and contributing as a collaborative member of a small team.Experience in research agreement administration, intellectual property or research policy frameworks will be highly regarded, as will an understanding of the national health and medical research funding landscape and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.Remuneration: Salary range is $106,376 to $115,730 p.a. plus super and generous salary packaging.
