Job Description

Black Pride YYC is growing, and we’re looking for a Grants Specialist who can help us strengthen our impact in the community. Our work focuses on supporting Black 2SLGBTQ+ people through education, arts, wellness, financial resilience, community events, and advocacy. We need someone who understands the importance of this mission and knows how to translate our programs and goals into clear, compelling funding proposals.What You’ll DoIdentify new grant opportunities at the municipal, provincial, federal, and foundation levels.Write strong, well-structured grant applications that reflect our programs and community needs.Build and maintain a tracker of applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements.Support interim and final reports with clear summaries, outcomes, financial breakdowns, and documentation.Collaborate with program leads to gather information, budgets, and data for submissions.Help strengthen our grants processes and create simple internal workflows for long-term sustainability.Review funding criteria and advise the team on eligibility, strategy, and timelines.What We’re Looking ForSomeone with experience writing successful grants for nonprofits or community organizations.Clear writing, excellent organization, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.Comfort working independently and asking the right questions to fill in missing details.An understanding of equity-focused community work.Strong attention to detail when preparing budgets, summaries, and follow-up reports.A person who cares about the work and wants to see the community thrive.Nice to HaveExperience with QuickBooks, Google Workspace, or basic project management tools.Familiarity with 2SLGBTQ+ programming, arts and culture, or social services grants.Experience supporting multi-year federal projects.Why This Role MattersBlack Pride YYC is in a growth phase with multiple ongoing programs, a national expansion underway, and active collaborations with partners across Alberta and Canada.
