We are seeking a Marketing and Event Coordinator to play a central role in planning, organizing, and delivering tourism-related events, while supporting communications and marketing initiatives that connect residents and visitors to the best Oshawa has to offer. POSITION SUMMARYThe Marketing and Event Coordinator will lead the planning and execution of Oshawa Tourism’s signature events and community activations. This role involves managing event logistics from concept to completion, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring every event reflects our city’s energy and diversity.
Alongside event responsibilities, the Coordinator will support targeted marketing and communications strategies that drive awareness, attendance, and community engagement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEvent Planning & CoordinationLead the planning, organization, and on-site execution of tourism-related events and activations. Coordinate logistics, scheduling, supplier/vendor relationships, volunteer support, and community participation. Draft detailed communications to stakeholders, including local businesses, volunteers, community groups, and government representatives. Develop event evaluation tools to assess impact, gather feedback, and inform future improvements. Source, design, and produce engaging promotional materials to drive event attendance. Support grant applications and funding reports related to event initiatives.
Represent Oshawa Tourism at key events, including Canada Day festivities, Bright and Merry Market, Peony Festival, Kars on King, and others. Community EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with local organizations, tourism partners, and cultural groups. Work directly with community stakeholders to create collaborative event opportunities. Participate in outreach activities that increase public awareness of Oshawa Tourism’s programs and events. Marketing & Communications SupportAssist in developing marketing campaigns that promote events and tourism initiatives. Coordinate event social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), including content creation, posting, and engagement. Track social media metrics and prepare monthly reports.
Coordinate tourism newsletters, press releases, and website updates to promote upcoming events and attractions. Maintain an up-to-date events calendar on the Oshawa Tourism website. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 2+ years of event management experience with proven organizational skills. Post-secondary education in Event Management, Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing. Strong project coordination abilities with the capacity to manage multiple events simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in social media platforms, content creation tools, and basic design software. Knowledge of Oshawa’s attractions, businesses, and community.
