Role Purpose:Responsible for the business risk register, designing processes, policies and procedures to identify and manage threats to the achievement of organizational or business objectives. In addition to threats to the organization and its employees, the role is also responsible for identifying and reporting on strategic and emerging risks via stakeholder engagement, assisting the development of mitigations to protect the Group’s customers, reputation, assets and interests of stakeholders.Required Qualification and ExperienceMinimum of a B-degree (commerce, science, engineering)Minimum 4 years’ experience in Audit or Risk Management.Experience in the Poultry Production and Distribution industry would be advantageous.Traveling will be required.Required Knowledge and SkillsKnowledgeUnderstanding of the industry/similar industry and related business risks and the capacity to assimilate and apply this understanding to the benefit of the organizationA solid understanding of business processes, risks and controlsThorough knowledge of enterprise risk assessment and management.An understanding of SHEQ, legal and sustainability risks and controlsA high-level understanding of fraud risk managementGood project management skillsTechnical SkillsA sound understanding of ERM principles and philosophyAn ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of dataAn ability to understand and interpret financial information and principlesInterpersonal SkillsStrong communication skills, including presentation and public speakingIntellectually curious, creative and innovativeAssertive leadershipAbility to attract and develop talent and build a high-quality internal audit teamProfessional in all respects – display honesty, integrity and strong ethicsIndependent and objective.Key Responsibilities Risk ManagementAssist the Board and Engineering & Risk Executive (E&R Exec) to establish and communicate the organization’s ERM objectives and directionAssist management with integrating risk management with the strategy development processAssist the CEO, Executive Committee and Engineering & Risk Executive (E&R Exec) to develop and communicate risk management policies, risk appetite and risk limitsAssist in developing risk mitigation strategies for the organization’s critical risks and for monitoring these risksEstablish, communicates and facilitates the use of appropriate ERM methodologies, tools and techniquesWork with divisions to establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilitiesFacilitates enterprise-wide risk assessments and monitors priority risks across the organizationMaintain Group strategic risk registerImplement appropriate risk reporting to the CEO, Executive Committee, Board and senior managementEnsure effective alignment between the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process and all assurance providersCoordinate the development of the annual Group Risk Management Plan based on the principle of combined assuranceMonitor and validate the effectiveness of mitigation activities including independent effectiveness reviews (performed by Internal Audit and external assurance providers). Assess the impact of residual risk and ensure action plans are developed by management to address gapsConduct risk management education and training from time to time.Manage IRIS scanning dashboard – internal and external.Manage and summaries OFI’s from underwriters reports and Risk Grading Audits (RGA’s)Assist/facilitate Annual Insurance declarations.Consolidate and ensure insurer notifications are prompt and accurate.Manage insurance claim and notification register assisting the business to achieve timeous close-out and notification.BudgetPrepare annual budget for risk managementMonitor actual costs against the budget monthlyRisk Committee ReportingConsolidate documents for submission to the Risk CommitteesCo-ordinate with other assurance providers (internal and external) and report results Risk CommitteeOperational ManagementManages direct report daily to ensure that the team attains the KPI’sDrive a culture of commitment to Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s) by creating awareness and providing recognition for attainment of KPI’s within the teamUtilize regular communication channels and team meetings to promote continuous improvement and best practiceMeasures and deliver on KPI’s in terms of procurement contracts and SLA’s and motivate the team to surpass the standard to deliver overall functional strategic goalsParticipate in cross function team meetings to deliver on operational requirements and translate this into action itemsInformation and Data ManagementEnsure assistant accurately and regularly captures data onto the information system to enable access to reliable data and reporting for trend analysis and decision makingShare relevant data with management teams to enable reliable business decision makingTechnical ExpertiseProvide technical expertise and training to internal customers and colleaguesProvide expertise in management team meetings and recommend solutions based on findingsFinancial ManagementManage costs to ensure the optimal utilization of assets and budgetsReport to manager on a regular basis on actual KPI’s versus budget and work with team to address and areas of non-conformance or concern proactively and timeouslyAuthorizes expenses within level of authority and monitor spending activity to ensure compliance to financial and ethical standardsImplements and encourage cost management initiatives where these do not impact on long term business sustainabilityContribute to Functional Strategy into ActionWorks in conjunction with the Group Audit Services to co create national strategy, based on a 2-to-3-year view of requirementsDetermine capacity required across both the medium and the long term and plan accordinglyWork closely with management teams to ensure the delivery of group benefitSuggest improvements to annual functional Strategy into Action plan and manage the co-creation of the audit contribution to the planEnsure the agreed SIA is implemented through team targets and that these targets align cross functionally within area of responsibilityProvide LeadershipLeads team towards meeting strategy and targets through regular communication and utilization of full organizational talent management tool setManage and deliver on succession plans to enable the development of a future generation of leaders and specialists and ensure optimal turnover and retention levels are maintainedDrives Employment Equity within the team to ensure that diversity is achieved at all levels and that statutory targets and requirements are metChampions training and development team utilizing available training opportunities or contributing to the development of new training solutions in collaboration with regional and national training specialistsConduct regular performance appraisals with subordinates and ensure that the process is cascaded throughout the regional teamDevelops and manage high performance multi-disciplinary teams in order to solve problemsEncourages skills workshops between multi-disciplinary teams and across regional team to attain skills transferConducts weekly meetings and ensure that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered uponManage employee relations climate and ensure corrective action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policyDurban,HammarsdalePublished Date: 05 December 2025Closing Date: 31 December 2025
