Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Category Manager – Biomass Fuel Sourcing & Procurement will be responsible forstrategizing, developing, and executing biomass fuel sourcing and procurementoperations to support TOESL’s biomass-based boiler systems across multiple industrialsites. This role ensures continuous, cost-effective, and sustainable biomass fuel supplywhile maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and traceability. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute regional biomass sourcing strategies (agro-residues, woodwaste, energy crops, and agri-waste derivatives) aligned with TOESL’s sustainabilitygoals. Conduct feasibility studies for biomass availability, calorific value, moisture profile,and ash characteristics in sourcing regions (Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and otherclusters). Lead vendor development initiatives by identifying and onboarding FPOs,aggregators, and local entrepreneurs under long-term fuel supply agreements. Negotiate commercial terms, rate contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs)ensuring compliance with procurement and audit policies. Collaborate with Operations and R&D to improve Steam-to-Fuel Ratio (SFR),combustion efficiency, and fuel handling practices. Monitor biomass fuel quality (GCV, moisture, ash, size) and coordinate laboratorytesting to ensure conformance to boiler specifications. Design and optimize biomass logistics models, including storage, drying, chipping, anddensification networks for cost-effective transportation. Develop supplier performance scorecards with KPIs such as on-time delivery, costefficiency, and quality compliance. Ensure end-to-end traceability of biomass supply in compliance with sustainability,ESG, and BRSR reporting requirements. Drive digital transformation in procurement through ERP/SAP systems, Power BIdashboards, and digital fuel traceability tools. Support sustainability initiatives including Green Steam certification, carbonaccounting, and biomass ash utilization projects. Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, EHS, Sustainability, Legal and Operationsteams for cost optimization and risk mitigation.
