What's the job?About the role | Ko te kaupapa We are seeking an experienced Group Manager – Fleet & Operations to lead the operational delivery of CORDE’s fleet, workshops, transport, and operational services. This is a leadership role that plays a critical part in driving efficiency, enhancing performance, and strengthening the value and reputation of our support services across the business.You will oversee and manage key service areas, including fleet management, mechanical workshops, trucking and transport, and operational support services, ensuring they deliver high-quality outcomes for both internal teams and external clients. The role is pivotal in shaping the future of CORDE’s fleet and operational strategy, optimising resource utilisation, and embedding best-practice systems and processes.Your Day-to-day Will IncludeLeading and supporting the Fleet Manager, Workshop Manager, and Trucking & Operations Manager to achieve business objectives.Driving cost efficiency, value for money, and service performance across CORDE’s divisions.Overseeing commercial performance, forecasting, reporting, and CapEx purchasing/deliveryEnsuring regulatory compliance, proactive maintenance practices, and optimal asset utilisation.Leading change initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and the adoption of new systems or technologies.Building strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, regulators, and local authorities.What you’ll bring | Ko ngā pukenga ōu5–10 years’ experience in fleet management or operational leadership roles within civil construction, infrastructure, transport, or maintenance sectors.Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering high-performing services across fleet, workshops, logistics, or operations.Strong commercial and financial management skills, including budgeting, CapEx, procurement, and cost recovery modelling.Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies focused on cost control, efficiency, and continuous improvement.In-depth knowledge of NZTA regulations, CoF/WoF compliance, and vehicle safety standards.Proficiency with fleet management systems (e.g. EROAD) and maintenance software.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset and a commitment to team success.A Class 1 driver licence is essential. A mechanical trade certification and/or business management qualification would be advantageous.
