Group TSF Engineer - Long Term

PURPOSE & OBJECTIVEWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated TSF (Tailings Storage Facility) Engineer to join our team. As a Group TSF Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing tailings storage facilities in compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and environmentally responsible operation of our mining operations. This role reports to the Group Tailings Engineer.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Design and Planning: • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop conceptual and detailed designs for tailings storage facilities, considering factors such as geotechnical characteristics, hydrology, environmental impact, and safety requirements.Regulatory Compliance: • Stay updated with local, national, and international regulations related to tailings management and ensure that the design and operation of TSFs adhere to these standards.• Prepare and submit necessary permits and documentation to regulatory agencies.Risk Assessment: • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for TSFs, including geotechnical stability analysis, water management strategies, and emergency response plans.• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact and protect human health and safety.Construction Oversight: • Provide technical expertise during the construction and commissioning phases of TSFs.• Monitor construction activities, review contractor performance, and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety protocols.Monitoring and Inspections: • Establish monitoring programs to assess the performance of TSFs, including slope stability, seepage, and water quality.• Conduct routine inspections, collect data, and analyze results to identify any deviations or potential issues.• Implement corrective actions as necessary.Documentation and Reporting: • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all TSF activities, including design reports, monitoring records, inspection reports, and incident reports.• Prepare regular reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.Continuous Improvement: • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in TSF engineering.• Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiency and propose innovative solutions for TSF design and management.KEY REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, and Geotechnical or a related field.• Minimum of 8-10 years proven experience in TSF design, construction supervision, and tailings management within the mining industry.• Membership affiliation of an international association required.• Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, geotechnical site investigation, TSF construction supervision, and a strong understanding of QAQC for TSFs.• Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and international guidelines related to tailings management such GISTM, ANCOLD, and ICOLD.• Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for design and analysis, such as Muk3D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and geotechnical modeling software.• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of work.CONTRAT TYPE: LONG TERM
