GSMI - Postdoctoral Researcher, Potash valorization

Duration: 12 months.Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled postdoctoral researcher to join a multidisciplinary research project dedicated to the sustainable valorization of potash resources such as carnallite ore. The successful candidate will lead research efforts to develop efficient beneficiation and purification processes for recovering potash and associated valuable elements from natural mineralizations, while ensuring the sustainable management and valorization of the brines generated during processing. This work will involve mineralogical and chemical characterization, process testing at laboratory scale, and techno-economic evaluation of developed routes. The project contributes to Morocco’s strategic objectives in resource valorization, environmental sustainability, and circular economy, in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners.Area Of ResearchSustainable mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, with emphasis on potash beneficiation, process optimization, and potash brine valorization.Main ResponsibilitiesConduct literature review on potash ore processing (carnallite) and brine management practices;Perform mineralogical and chemical characterization of potash-bearing samples;Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments for beneficiation (flotation, and others) and purification;Assess process parameters to optimize recovery and product quality;Evaluate potential valorization routes for process by-products and residues;Analyze, interpret, and synthesize experimental data to support process development;Contribute to the economic and environmental assessment of developed processes;Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations;Collaborate with internal teams, partner laboratories, and industrial stakeholders.Candidate ProfileRequired qualifications :PhD in Mineral Processing, Hydrometallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline;Proven experience in ore characterization and process development;Strong background in mineral beneficiation and solution chemistry;Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;Strong scientific writing and communication abilities in English (French is an asset);Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience in salt or potash processing.Familiarity with process modeling and simulation tools.Experience with industrial or pilot-scale testing.Application DocumentsInterested candidates should submit the following documents:Cover letterDetailed CVList of publicationsCopies of diplomasProfessional references (minimum of 2)
