Halide Energy is a battery manufacturing company based in the Helsinki region of Finland, building copper flow battery storage solutions for grid-scale energy producers and industrial users. To meet our development milestones and project ambitions, we are seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in embedded systems to develop an advanced Battery Management Systems (BMS) for our flow battery platforms.
This role is ideal for engineers who blend hardware and software skills, enjoy hands-on analytical problem-solving, and are passionate about robust, reliable system development. You'll create BMS software and hardware solutions, integrate and validate control systems, and work with external partners for power interface connections. This is an in-person office role, based in the Helsinki Metropolitan region with limited on-site travel responsibilities. Design, implement, and validate BMS control software and embedded hardware, including safety-critical fault detection and robust system autonomyLead software testing, deployment, and ongoing support for lab and field installationsDevelop system requirements, schedules, and technical documentation (requirements/specifications)Analyse and improve system design, focusing on reliability, safety, and continuous performance enhancementsCollaborate with engineers, scientists, and product managers from concept to production in multidisciplinary teamsUtilise engineering tools for circuit design, debugging, and version control (e. g. , Git)Apply effective testing frameworks, unit testing, and continuous integration practicesProvide hands-on support for system integration, testing, and commissioningQualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar2+ years' experience in embedded software or firmware for energy storage, robotics, or automationProficient in C/C++/Rust for embedded or bare metal applicationsSolid understanding of digital/industrial protocols (CAN, SPI, Modbus, etc. )Experience in safety-critical software architectures, testing, and validationFamiliarity with hardware schematics, PCB design, and system troubleshootingStrong documentation, communication, and collaborative skillsProficient in written and verbal EnglishWhat we offer: A supportive team of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
