Korowai Manaaki Youth Justice Residence, Wiri AucklandFull Time, PermanentOranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is a Ministry dedicated to supporting any child in New Zealand whose wellbeing is at significant risk of harm now, or in the future. We also work with young people who may have offended, or are likely to offend. Our belief is that in the right environment, with the right people surrounding and nurturing them, any child can, and should flourish.We are currently looking for a Handyperson to join our team at Korowai Manaaki. This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday 40 hrs per week.Mō te tūnga | About the role In this busy and varied role, you will support health, safety, security and daily operations of the residence by providing a high-quality and responsive buildings, grounds, property, plant, vehicle and resource support service. This will include booking in and escorting specialist trade contractors whilst on site; maintaining a safe and damage-free environment with daily checks completed, data analysed, and reports prepared; carrying out allocated minor work to keep the site safe and tidy; and identifying and escalating property risks and issues.Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring Key requirements of the role include:An understanding of health, safety and securityResilience, reliability, honesty and common-senseAn ability to communicate professionally with a wide range of staff and stakeholdersTo be flexible and adaptable in your work practicesGood computer literacy (Word, Excel and Outlook)A full clean New Zealand drivers' licenceTo meet the Vulnerable Children's Act safety checking and Ministry vetting requirements (this includes a full Police Check)To be fit and healthy - able to work outside and stand for most of the day if required (when escorting contractors and completing routine maintenance and grounds work)Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure.
