This role will lead a Manager of Managers (MoM) team which will implement a full cycle of oversight of Martello Re’s external asset managers. This will include onboarding (as appropriate), setting mandates, overseeing, evaluating individual credits, benchmarking and evaluating the asset managers. The Head of MoM plays a critical role interfacing with multiple members of each of our asset managers and will also liaise with other members of the Martello Re investment team to understand investment portfolio needs and also for operational and analytical support as needed.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesLead and Oversee the Manager of Managers Group: Direct a team responsible for comprehensive oversight of external asset managers, ensuring alignment with the company’s investment objectives, risk appetite and regulatory requirements.Portfolio Strategy and Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the investment team to identify portfolio needs, translate these into actionable strategies, and communicate mandates and guidelines to asset managers.Manager Selection, Onboarding, and Diligence: Source, evaluate, and onboard new asset managers; conduct ongoing due diligence and performance assessments to ensure continued alignment with organizational standards and objectives.Set Performance Benchmarks: Establish and monitor quantitative and qualitative benchmarks for asset manager performance; regularly review results and recommend adjustments as needed.Investment Review and Evaluation: Oversee the evaluation of individual investment opportunities presented by asset managers, providing input and approval as required.Market Monitoring and Intelligence: Maintain awareness of relevant market trends and dynamics to inform portfolio construction and asset manager oversight.Portfolio Construction Oversight: Help define the strategic direction for portfolio construction, ensuring diversification, risk management, compliance with regulatory and capital requirements, and alignment with corporate business objectives.Problem Asset Management: Work with asset managers to develop strategies for handling underperforming or problem assets; brief senior management on material issues and recommend corrective actions.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Leverage support from the investment team’s data, analytics, and operations functions to enhance decision-making and oversight processes.Senior Management Reporting: Prepare and deliver succinct, insightful updates and recommendations to senior leadership regarding asset manager performance, market developments, and portfolio risks.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Education And ExperienceAdvanced degree in finance, economics, business, mathematics, or a related field. CFA charter holder designation preferred15+ years of relevant experience in investment management, with a focus on multi-asset portfolios, asset manager oversight, and credit risk management, preferably within insurance, reinsurance, or asset management environments.Proven experience managing investment teams.Proven experience managing multi-asset portfolios, including public and private asset classes.Experience at a life and annuity insurance or reinsurance company.Knowledge of liability-driven investing and understanding of asset-liability management (ALM).Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as U.S. statutory accounting and/or Bermuda insurance regulations.Required SkillsDeep understanding of capital markets, investment strategies, and risk-adjusted performance evaluation.Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills; able to influence at all levels of the organization.Strategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.High ethical standards and a commitment to professional excellence.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing external partnerships.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises the entire team and is responsible for team development and performance management.
