Role PurposeDevelop and oversee the compliance framework for the Irish operation and provide assurance to senior leadership that the business meets all regulatory requirements. Key Accountabilities: Compliance Framework and Oversight • Lead the design and delivery of a robust compliance framework that aligns with regulatory obligations in Ireland. • Provide expert guidance on legislative and regulatory matters and ensure regulatory changes are understood and implemented effectively. • Deliver assurance on the control environment, including oversight of product governance and operational controls. • Escalate compliance issues that exceed risk appetite and guide resolution as required. Advisory and Reporting • Provide advice and direction on compliance issues, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and company standards. • Prepare and deliver compliance policies, standards, training, and relevant guidance. • Produce timely compliance and conduct oversight reporting for senior leadership, risk committees, and other governance forums. Operational Support and Projects • Support core business functions such as Underwriting, Claims, Business Development, and Risk in meeting regulatory requirements. • Lead and support compliance-related projects, ensuring a practical and business-focused approach. Data Governance • Act as Data Owner for the Irish business and ensure compliance with internal data policies and regulatory requirements. • Monitor data quality, maintain records of processing activities, oversee data retention schedules, and ensure data assurance measures are in place. • Liaise with the Data Protection Officer on data protection matters and act as the local escalation point for issues. Digital and Technology Compliance • Work with technology teams on matters relating to digital operational resilience and regulatory expectations. Leadership and Collaboration • Lead and develop the compliance team to ensure strong performance and capability. • Work collaboratively with internal teams across the business to support achievement of strategic objectives. • Engage externally with industry bodies as required. • Maintain an effective working relationship with regulators and act as the primary contact for all regulatory engagement and returns. Key Performance Indicators• Delivery against compliance plans and regulatory commitments • Effective identification and communication of regulatory developments • Strength of the control environment • Quality and timeliness of compliance reporting • Stakeholder feedback • Development and performance of the compliance team • Contribution to wider business strategy Knowledge, Skills and Experience• ACII minimum and preferably FCII, or equivalent professional qualifications • Professional Diploma in Compliance or equivalent legal or financial qualification • Strong knowledge of the Irish regulatory environment • Significant senior compliance leadership experience in insurance or financial services • Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills • Experience leading teams and driving cultural and performance improvements Additional InformationThis position is designated as a Pre-Approval Controlled Function (PCF) role by the Central Bank of Ireland and will require approval prior to appointment.
