Applicants are sought for a Head of Department - Student Engagement to join the dynamic leadership team at Labrador State School to play a key role in shaping a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment. This position is being offered in a temporary full-time capacity commencing 22 January 2026 to 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.About UsInspiring minds, nurturing children, creating futures of choice. The school is situated on the Central Gold Coast and is the gateway to some of the best beaches and waterways in the world.Labrador State School provides its 800 plus students with a quality education that focusses on literacy, numeracy and developing the whole child through academic, musical and sporting pursuits.About The RoleAs an integral part of the senior leadership team at Labrador State School, this role will focus on aligning social-emotional learning (SEL), trauma-informed practices and agreed behaviour practices to enhance students' wellbeing and engagement.Responsibilities include, but not limited to;Development of an innovative student wellbeing framework encompassing SEL, trauma-informed practices and agreed behaviour practices to enhance student engagement.Leadership and refinement of school-wide Positive Behaviour for Learning processes.Monitoring the impact of programs and initiatives on student attendance and behaviour.Engagement with internal and external stakeholders and projects that enhance student wellbeing and engagement.Monitoring of individual students performance and behaviour through pro-active case management processes.Collaboration on whole school wellbeing initiatives.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How To ApplyPlease submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 2-pg response to the How you will be Assessed section of the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.Occupational group Education & Training
