Warsaw office address: 20th Floor, Aleje Jerozolimskie 81, 02-001 Warsaw, PolandEngineering strategyCreate and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performanceEnsure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets; enabling the company to function and compete effectively in the marketEnsure strong communication between squads to facilitate the exchange of information, to deliver consistent user experiences across the tribe, and to implement change & improvementsInput and hold responsibility for engineering budgetsTeam ManagementProvide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate teamsSet achievable goals for the team that are ambitious, without compromising tech standards and goalsEnsure teams are clear on what is expected from themMentor & coach Team Leads to be exceptional squad leads, ensuring they motivate their direct reports tooEnsure the balance of product and tech requirements seamlesslyTrack performance regularly (through team meetings and individual catch-ups)Priorities and decision makingDelegate confidently, effectively and intelligentlyIn collaboration with the CTO & VP of Engineering, set the standards and priorities for the engineering departmentEnsure processes are reviewed and changed as the company and team continue to scaleMake decisions effectively as and when requiredThis list is not exhaustive and there may be other activities you are required to deliver.Skills, Experience & Qualifications RequiredExperience leading a large, high-achieving engineering function - including building and scaling teamsStrong leadership skillsExperience working within a start-up or scale-up, ideally in a consumer brandExperience with event-driven architectures and a strong understanding of relational databasesExtensive knowledge of engineering practices and principles as well as an understanding of methods of problem-solvingExperience building mission-critical systemsExperience with multiple programming languagesCreative thinking and problem-solving mindsetAbility to interact with people from across the business and build strong relationships, including the ability to effectively influence upwardsHappy to roll sleeves up and assist the team when required (team player)Self-starter and proactive approachComfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environmentInterview ProcessScreen Call - Video-call with a member from the Talent Team (45-60 minutes)1st Stage - Video/In-person interview with VP of Engineering (up to 90 minutes)2nd Stage - Video/In-person interview with CTO (up to 90 minutes)3rd Stage - Video/In-person interview with Chief People Officer (up to 90 minutes)We aim to finalise the entire interview process and deliver feedback within 4 weeks.Every job application received is reviewed manually by our talent team.
