We empower our teams to achieve excellence and drive forward-thinking solutions, aiming to enable a resilient and sustainable world.” - David Ibeson, Group CEOYour RoleAs Head of Legal, you will provide trusted, strategic legal leadership across the Group, advising the Executive Committee and Board to ensure Apollo operates safely within the law while achieving its strategic and commercial goals.This high-profile position requires a confident and pragmatic legal professional who can balance commercial, financial, and reputational considerations, deliver clear and independent advice, and lead a high-performing legal team within a complex regulated environment.What You Will DoAct as a strategic legal adviser to the Executive Committee and Board, providing comprehensive advice across commercial, corporate, and insurance matters.Oversee legal input on procurement, outsourcing, IT, and supplier contracts, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.Negotiate and manage the legal aspects of commercial and corporate transactions, ensuring cost-effective use of external counsel.Lead horizon scanning of legal and regulatory developments, maintaining robust governance frameworks and supporting ongoing compliance.Report on material contracts and legal risks, highlighting matters of strategic or financial significance.Manage and develop legal and company secretariat team members, fostering collaboration and professional growth.Promote adherence to SRA Principles and uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.What We Are Looking ForQualified solicitor with a current practising certificate (England & Wales).Extensive commercial, corporate, insurance, and regulatory legal experience, ideally within a Lloyd’s or wider financial services environment.Strong understanding of statutory, regulatory, and common law relevant to a Lloyd’s insurance group.Proven ability to provide clear, pragmatic, and business-focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.Experience managing external counsel and legal budgets effectively.Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.Confident leader with the independence and professional objectivity required to manage complex, high-impact legal matters.What You Will Get In ReturnOur compensation package is designed to attract top talent.
