By boosting the competitiveness of micro and small entrepreneurs, Amartha empowers women-led MSMEs, creates jobs, and fosters inclusive economic growth.About The Team:This role will responsible for leading the organization's comprehensive risk management strategy by overseeing the identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting of operational and enterprise-wide risks. This role establishes and maintains the risk framework, defines risk appetite, ensures strong internal controls, and promotes a robust risk culture across all business units. It partners closely with senior leadership to provide insights on emerging risks, regulatory expectations, and business continuity preparedness, while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards. Through strategic oversight, effective governance, and strong stakeholder engagement, the position plays a critical role in safeguarding organizational resilience and supporting long-term strategic objectives.Responsibilities: Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Strategy & Framework Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's enterprise risk management framework. Establish risk appetite, tolerance, and key risk indicators (KRIs) in alignment with strategic objectives. Lead the annual enterprise-wide risk assessment and coordinate risk reporting to senior management and the board. Operational Risk Governance Oversee the operational risk management program, including risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation. Implement and manage tools such as RCSA (Risk & Control Self Assessments), incident management, and root-cause analysis. Promote a strong risk culture across all business units. Risk Policies, Procedures & Controls Develop and maintain risk management policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure consistent application of controls and risk methodologies across the organization. Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements. Risk Monitoring, Reporting & Analytics Provide timely, accurate, and insightful risk reports to executives, risk committees, and the board. Use analytics, dashboards, and scenario analysis to assess emerging risks and trends. Track operational risk incidents, losses, and near misses and recommend corrective actions. Business Continuity & Resilience Lead the business continuity management (BCM) and crisis management programs. Conduct regular exercises, testing, and updates to BCM plans. Ensure organizational preparedness for operational disruptions. Regulatory Engagement & Compliance Act as key point of contact for internal and external audits and regulatory examinations. Interpret new regulatory requirements and ensure organizational compliance. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Lead and mentor the operational and enterprise risk management team. Provide expert guidance and training to business units on risk-related issues. Collaborate with finance, compliance, IT, internal audit, and business leaders to embed risk practices. RequirementsBachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, Economics, or related fieldMaster's degree or MBA preferred10+ years of experience in operational risk, enterprise risk, compliance, or internal auditProven leadership experience in a senior risk management roleStrong understanding of risk frameworks such as COSO ERM, ISO 31000, Basel operational risk standards, or similarStrong knowledge in lending business and financial industriesProfessional certifications such as FRM, ERM, CRISC, CIRM, CPA, CIA, or PRM highly desirableAt Amartha, we are dedicated to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity, ensures equity, and fosters inclusion.
