Role Purpose:Generate fee income and manage a business team to deliver a service in line with quality standards and to achieve revenue and profitability targets.To provide strategic advice to the business, to prepare, agree and execute business plans for the Project Development Service (PDS) aspects of China. ContextClients and markets are increasingly demanding better service from their providers. Technological advancement and capabilities are increasingly important.All outputs including proposal documents and presentations need to reflect C&W’s world class position, using a persuasive structure, offering a compelling value proposition and differentiate C&W from the competition.Customer-facing matrix management structure with clients increasingly required a multi-service team.DimensionsHead of Project Development Service China Reports to CEO Greater China.Working with the business as part of the Greater China Management team.Other business leaders with regular exposure to Director level.Core responsibilities The Head of Project Development Service China will be responsible for leading the PDS team in Mainland China (namely in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, etc offices), around 70 staffs.The Head of Project Development Service China duties involve:Business development.Ensure technical training to PDS staff.Drive CRM processes in the PDS sections of the business.Represent C&W to international and domestic professional bodies for PDS activities.Promote best practice in business development by:Continually monitoring, developing and improving processes to reduce cost and increase revenues and instruction win rate. Develop the support and advice offered to reflect market changes and best practice.Working closely with PDS functions in other APAC sub-regions to drive cross business referral, regional consistency and excellence of service in delivery.Advise the company on professional indemnity and risk and governance issues relevant to the professional services practice.Developing ways to effectively communicate and train teams in best practice. Helping to define suitable business development evaluation and presentation skills training for key staff.Build C&W’s reputation as professional service suppliers with the highest levels of technical skills, service delivery and integrity.Key Performance IndicatorsDesignated activities achieved on plan and to budget.Achievement of personal objectives agreed at Objective and Development Plan.Feedback from colleagues and internal customers on level of service.Increase in cross-selling to and team working with other departments.Co-operation amongst skill lines.Ensures all operations adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards; actively promotes a culture of compliance, promptly identifies and manages risks, and upholds the company’s reputation and sustainable development.QualificationsHonours degree in building surveying, civil engineering or architectureProfessional Body registration – RICS, HKIS.Skills & KnowledgeSolid grounding to a high standard in building consultancy skills – e.g. building surveys, statutory submission, space planning, project development, design audit, contractual advice, maintenance management.Strong business development ability, experience and track record.Strategic thinking and project planning.Good communication and relationship with both international and domestic, state-owned clients.Sustainability qualification and experience.Strong leadership, teambuilding and people management skills – coaching and developing.Business planning and understanding of P&L principles.Selling, negotiating and account management skills.Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese are essential.ExperienceAll rounded, sizable project management experience in particular construction management.Broad-based building surveying experience acquired in the commercial sector.Experience of servicing major state-owned and corporate clients, large MNCs, international and domestic banks.Previous experience of running a business area with developer or project consultancy firm.Demonstrable track record in people management.
