POSITION OVERVIEW:Involves leading and managing the Sales & Marketing team to identify new business opportunities, build key partnerships, and increase market share. Responsible for developing and executing long-term business strategies, overseeing sales and marketing initiatives, and ensuring the alignment of team goals with company objectives. Includes managing client relationships, negotiating contracts, conducting market analysis, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services. A key part of responsibility is to mentor and motivate the sales team, track performance metrics, and provide regular reports to the MD on business progress.SPAN OF CONTROL:Set Company Sales and Business Development Strategies and its implementation.Directly overseas the Sales & Marketing team, which includes sales managers, marketing professionals and staff.Collaborate with department leads from other departments like Production, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service on client projects and proposals.The Role has to ensure that Client satisfaction on each services / project as well as rectification on issues raised by Customers.In some cases, the BDM appoint agents in the overseas represent the company as Part of the Sales strategy and same to be managed and monitored from Head office.Maintain close supervision and effective communication without becoming overwhelmed.Ensures that safety protocols and industry regulations are incorporated into business strategies, client proposals, and contracts, working closely with the Operations and Safety teams to prioritize safety in all business development activities.Ensure that Sales Team to be performed as per the sales plan forecasted , also Support Finance for the Payment Collection assistance.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Managing the Sales & Marketing team to drive business growth and achieve sales targets. Includes developing and executing strategic business plans to expand market share, identifying new opportunities, and building strong, long-term client relationships. Involves overseeing contract negotiations to secure profitable deals, analyzing market trends and competitor activities to inform business strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment in executing initiatives. The Head of Business Development reports to senior leadership on business progress, ensures safety and regulatory compliance in all business activities, and mentors team members to foster a high-performance culture.Also requires efficient management of budgets and resources to maximize profitability while minimizing risks.KEY COMPETENCIES:Deep understanding of the marine sector, including shipping, offshore services, and regulatory requirements.Strong leadership skills to manage, motivate, and align the Sales & Marketing team with company goals.Proficiency in negotiating contracts and securing profitable business deals while maintaining strong client relationships.Ability to analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new opportunities and adapt strategies effectively.Excellent communication skills for presenting to clients, stakeholders, and senior management.A bachelors degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field is required, with a masters degree (MBA) preferred. The role typically demands 7-10 years of experience in business development or leadership within the marine industry, including team management and strategic growth.
