About the roleThe Head of Technical is a key member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for delivering Year 1 of our 5-year business plan.Hybrid role with time at any of our three offices - Witney Oxfordshire - Westhill Aberdeen - Plains Scotland.The role focuses on leading customer excellence from securing a project through to commencement of operational delivery on site. It requires the ability to lead a team to deliver exceptional customer service and technical standards, while using technical expertise to ensure technical accuracy to meet both customer and business objectives. This role is responsible for leading:Pre-Construction: Leading the technical co-ordination and delivery of projects, forecasting programmes for accuracy and on time delivery.Structural Engineering: Ensuring structural integrity and compliance in line with Building Regulations and project plansProduct Governance: Managing technical standards, delivery of new innovations, regulatory compliance and management of all product third party certifications and accreditations.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure accuracy and clarity of project information with customers and design teams, ready for  delivery to our design office for manufacturing design.Use data and insights to manage and deliver KPIs for year 1 business plan, collaborating with other department heads and reporting progress in delivery of business plan goals.Deliver customer excellence through building strong customer relationships, listening to needs and working with the team and across departments to deliver required results.Ensure appropriate and efficient resourcing of the department, within budget and in place to meet business plan goals and targets.Manage all design and scope changes throughout the pre-construction phase to identify, price and agree with customers, in conjunction with the commercial and estimating teams.Lead a team to provide support, guidance, knowledge and development, all focused on exceptional customer delivery.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies during the pre-construction phase.Maintain Business Management Systems (BMS), technical specifications, and system resources.Deliver clear and concise product information to support customers and internal teams.Contribute to budget setting, resource planning, and strategic development of the pre-construction function.Essential technical expertiseIn-depth knowledge of timber frame construction and current building regulations.Proven leadership of technical teams, delivering excellent customer experience and effective project handovers.Understanding of timber frame manufacturing and on-site installation processes.Experience of managing remote teams to deliver exceptional results.Strong planning capability with logical thinking skills.Confident, fluent communicator with strong influencing and interpersonal skills.Ability to use business metrics to drive performance.Process-oriented with a high level of rigour and adherence to core procedures.What we offerWe reward our people, and you’ll have good benefits, a competitive salary, company car allowance, bonus scheme, ongoing development, and an opportunity to develop your career.
