Head of Trading

THE OPPORTUNITY THAT AWAITS YOU A high-growth fintech company is building the next generation of payment infrastructure across Africa. They are on a mission to make money movement seamless, inclusive, and scalable across borders.They are looking for a commercially driven and technically savvy Head of Trading to join their trading team in Cape Town. This hybrid role combines real-time market making, pricing across FX and crypto pairs, client interaction, and collaboration with developers and quants to enhance trading infrastructure. You will play a key role in shaping trading operations and contributing to the growth of cross-border payments in Africa.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIESMake competitive two-way prices across major and emerging FX pairs and leading crypto assets.Monitor liquidity venues, OTC flows, and market depth to optimize pricing and execution.Maintain real-time visibility on P&L, inventory, spreads, and risk exposures.Execute trades and manage flows within risk limits and compliance policies.Quote spot FX and crypto prices directly to institutional and high-volume clients.Negotiate trade terms and manage client expectations on pricing and execution.Provide market insights and pricing rationale to internal and external stakeholders.Collaborate with the sales team on onboarding, pricing strategies, and client retention.Work with quant and engineering teams to enhance pricing engines, trading algorithms, and execution logic.Suggest and test improvements for latency reduction, pricing accuracy, and auto-hedging.Analyze trade data to optimize spreads, slippage, and trading performance.Support system upgrades, new product launches, and venue integrations.Collaborate with leadership on business processes and revenue-generation strategies.Assist with ad hoc tasks and attend stakeholder meetings when required.OUR REQUIRED EXPERTISEBachelor’s or Master’s in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Professional certifications (CFA, CA, FASSA) advantageous but not required.5–10 years in spot or derivative market making.OTC, institutional crypto, or FX trading experience preferred.Proven track record in pricing, risk management, and client interaction.Familiarity with both centralized and decentralized crypto venues is an advantage.Strong understanding of pricing models, market making, order books, and market dynamics.Knowledge of FIX protocols, WebSocket APIs, and trading platform integrations.YOUR REWARDSalary range: R 1 400 000 – R 1 800 000 p.a.
