The Role The Head of Trading in Poland will lead all trading, portfolio, and market operations for GPC's Polish retail business. You will manage the optimization of generation, retail demand, and market positions to maximize gross margin and balance costs — bridging physical and financial markets within a digital, data-driven architecture. This is both a hands-on and strategic leadership role, responsible for building a high-performance trading desk and integrating AI-based forecasting and automation tools. Key Responsibilities 1. Trading & Portfolio Management Own the day-ahead and intraday trading strategy for Poland (TGE / PSE interface). Optimize portfolio positions to maximize PnL while maintaining regulatory compliance. Manage hedging strategy (forward, CfD, or PPA balancing) Execute balancing responsibility (BRP) and settlements with PSE / DSOs. Oversee short-term forecasting of generation and demand using GPDE’s EMS–VPP–AI stack. 2. Risk Management Implement market-risk policies, position limits, and Value-at-Risk metrics aligned with group standards. Monitor exposure to spot, forward, and imbalance markets; maintain daily mark-to-market and variance reports. Collaborate with Finance and Compliance to ensure REMIT / EMIR reporting accuracy. 3. Strategy & Systems Contribute to pricing design for SME retail products . Work with the Tech & Data team to integrate algorithmic trading and forecasting modules. Develop dashboards and analytics for margin optimization and cash-flow forecasting. 4. Leadership & Collaboration Build and lead a small, high-calibre trading team. Provide mentorship and structured training on market fundamentals, trading systems, and risk management. Collaborate closely with broader Group for cross-border energy optimization and portfolio hedging. Requirements Skills Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities; proficient in Excel and Python (or equivalent). Sound understanding of market risk, forecasting, and data analysis. Strategic thinker with ability to translate market signals into commercial action. Excellent communication skills (English and Polish required). High integrity, disciplined risk mindset, and operational precision. Education Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related quantitative discipline. Additional qualifications (Energy Trading Certificate, CFA/ERP, or MBA) advantageous.
