Health and Safety Advisor Role Outline This role is at the very core of our highly successful Membership Service. It is fundamental to the business and will expose the successful candidate to a variety of work for different companies in different industries.  The successful applicant will be responsible for:  ·       Conducting in-person annual safety review meetings with our clients ·       Providing professional, friendly, practical advice to them based on your extensive legal knowledge and industry experience·       Scoring their health and safety performance against our safety management system criteria·       Writing reports reflecting the positive efforts they have made and the steps they need to take to achieve compliance·       Writing and updating health and safety policies·       Building relationships by keeping in touch via phone and email and helping the clients to improve their safety standards·       Identifying training needs·       Booking in required training or signposting to our training department·       Taking calls from Membership Service clients while in the office and giving advice as needed To give context, experience and depth to the role, it will also include ·       Visiting a variety of sites to conduct workplace safety inspections ·       Producing a report on the above with professional and practical advice·       Communicating with site management any issues arising from the inspection both verbally and in writing ·       Conducting accident/incident investigations for our clients·       Providing high quality investigation reports into the above ·       Creating and recording safe systems of work including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and Manual Handling assessments·       Reviewing and advising on risk assessments written by others (primarily our clients’ contractors) ·       Other consultancy work as required by the business Skills required ·       You will be a skilled communicator, able to listen and understand the work our clients do and the challenges they face·       You will be able to apply your knowledge to different workplace situations ·       You will need to be able to recall information accurately to answer challenging questions·       You will need to be able to deal with a broad spectrum of compliance and engagement ·       You will be able to write reports that are concise, accurate and worded in a professional but friendly manner·       You will be able to give practical, realistic advice to our clients in a language they can understand·       You will be comfortable with Microsoft Office programs and using IT systems Qualifications and Experience Required ·       NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)·       Minimum of 6 GCSE’s including English and Mathematics at grades A-C (or equivalent)·       An thorough understanding of Safety Management Systems·       An appreciation of safety accreditation schemes (e.g. CHAS / Achilles)·       Experience of writing health and safety policy documents·       Experience of conducting site safety inspections ·       Experience and understanding of accident investigation techniques·       A broad, working knowledge of UK health and safety legislative requirements ·       Full driving license  Why work for HCS Safety…? We are an Investors in People Employer – we recognise the value of our staff and prioritise their wellbeing and career development HCS Safety is 75% owned by an Employee Ownership Trust. The choice is yours, but we will provide the opportunities. § Salary                £30,000 – £35,000 per annum depending on skillset and experience§ Hours                Office hours are 8am – 4.30pm § Interviews          Tuesday 9th Wednesday 10th December§ Start date          12th January 2026 (subject to notice period)
