We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join our fantastic team at Piper Hill High SchoolThis is a Grade 5, fixed term post for one academic year to start ASAP once pre-employment checks are complete, full time 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 Inset days. The starting salary is £24,998, and the full time equivalent £29,064.We’re Looking ForA suitable qualified and experienced Healthcare Assistant to provide care of the day-to-day complex medical care needs of individual pupil(s) under the direction of healthcare professionals and school staff. You will support teaching and other staff in assisting the delivery of the curriculum and other learning processes, in direct contact with pupils.You will need to have previous experience working in a healthcare or education setting and relevant healthcare/medical qualification, with advanced numeracy and literacy level 3 or higher and (Paediatric) First Aid training/certification. Previous experience of administering medication orally/inhaled/via gastrostomy and supplies management. You will need to be able to communicate clearly and sensitively with children, young people and adults, individually and in groups. You will able need the ability to utilise IT skills to develop documentation, accurately record and monitor compliance with school proceduresMain Purpose Of The JobTo manage the provision of specialist support and care for the day-to-day needs (including complex medical care needs) of individual pupil(s) with support from healthcareprofessionals and under the direction of Senior Leaders. To ensure that the provision of healthcare support is appropriate and effective to support pupils in accessing the curriculum and enabling them to participate and engage in school life. You will be expected to attend and complete regular training or competency assessments specific to child or young person’s medical needs and care plan.Key Responsibilities Will IncludeTo always adhere to the personalised plan of care for each child, keeping clear and accurate records, and adhere to school policies.To work closely with external agencies in developing the skills necessary to successfully deliver specialist healthcare support to pupils.To contribute to the development of documentation and school-level procedures for the management of healthcare support, ensuring compliance with these and providing training and support to colleagues as required.Take the lead role in the development and implementation of school documentation and procedures for recording medical care which are compliant with NHS guidance and standards.To ensure documentation is maintained accurately, ensuring colleagues are trained and supported to adhere to school procedures.To take lead responsibility for monitoring compliance with school procedures related to medical care, developing and implementing a regular audit of documentation.
