Here, you'll find purpose in your work.Job DescriptionResponsible for the management and upkeep of patient medical records files, including obtaining outside medical records needed for the treatment of patients, responding to release of information requests and assisting in correspondence between treating physicians.Primary Job FunctionObtain medical records from outside facilities (includes hospital systems, treating physicians, and directly from patients).Release information to person and agencies according to HIPPA regulations.Electronic medical record system upkeep, filing, and organization.Obtain new patient/consult information to ensure the proper appointment in a timely manner.Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls to the appropriate staff member when necessary.Distribute incoming faxes and fax outgoing information as needed.Knowledge and compliance with all confidentiality laws and internal confidentiality measures, including HIPAA compliance.Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.Print and mail letters/dictations. Correct dictation notes as neededAll other job-related tasks as required by supervisor/managerKnowledge And SkillsData entry of 8000 KPH.Familiarity with all office equipment, computers, and internet literacy.Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding & medical records.Customer service.Phone etiquette.An ability to provide a personable and caring environment for all patients.HIPAA RequirementsMedical Records Clerk will have access to PHI and ePHI in the course of his/her duties.
