This is a vital role for ensuring our patients and service users can easily exercise their fundamental legal rights in relation to the information we hold about them. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proven ability to work within a team and across the Trust.As our Health Records Administrator you'll work collaboratively with team colleagues and other health professionals to deliver an effective and efficient health records service in accordance with legal, ethical and Trust standards. This includes being responsible for working to strict legal deadlines to ensure our patients and service users can exercise their legal rights in relation to the information we hold.If you share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting information rights which contribute to the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and want to make a difference in healthcare, we encourage you to apply.DutiesThe Health Records Office is a secure and confidential environment where administrators work with electronic and paper files. This role requires speed reading of large volumes of highly sensitive health records, meticulous attention to detail and judgement for appropriately redacting information. Main duties include:Understand and administer the Data Protection Act 2018 and Access to Health Records Act 1990 when processing personal information and providing advice to staff, patients and service users.Liaise with consultants and other health professionals regarding the application of the serious harm test and appropriate release of health record information.Collate, prepare and read and accurately redact highly sensitive patient health records at speed in accordance with legal requirements using specialist redaction software.Complete subject access requests and other disclosures of health records in accordance with statutory legislation and legal deadlines.Prepare health records for sharing information with external organisations.Manage requests for the retrieval of legacy paper health records and ensure the secure return to external storage.
