Job Description

Lead the implementation of a professional, competent and knowledgesharing culture across all your sites ensuring that best in class health, safety and environment is planned, implemented and shared effectively. Be the person that Sisk project teams seeas a positive value adding service.John Sisk & Son have been building excellence as a family-owned international construction company by offering trust, certainty and value to our clients whilst being at the heart of change. Key ResponsibilitiesLead by exampleProvide sound and industry leading advice to project stakeholders.Carry out audits/inspections of Sisk workplaces at a frequency and with thentrusiveness as coached by the BU HSE Manager.Attend sites following accidents/incidents and assist with the investigation. In theabsence of the Project Director or HSE Manager lead the investigation.Liaise with enforcement authorities if they attend site to investigate following an incident.Assist the HSE Manager in preparation of a Health and Safety report for the BU MDat applicable intervals.Alert the HSE Manager if there is reason to believe there will be a period of inadequate cover for Health and Safety.In absence of HSE Manager assist tender and prequalification teams whererequested advising on Health and Safety concerns as well as helping providepractical solutions.Attend Start Up meetings with your line manager and Sisk site teams. Whererequested attend other project meetings.Deliver appropriate trainingBe aware of critical legislative changes and best practices to enable provision of competent Health & Safety advice to site stakeholders.Be aware of own limitations ensure advise given remains within those limitations.Experience And SkillsMinimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry Minimum 3 years as a health and safety professionalTechnical membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH)Identify and alert the HSE Manager to any period of inadequate safety coverAssist tender and prequalification teams by advising on safety concerns and practical solutions where requiredAttend project start up meetings and supply chain meetings when requestedDeliver appropriate health and safety training to site staffStay informed on legislative changes and industry best practice to ensure competent advice is providedRecognise the limits of competence and seek further support where required.Strong organisational and time management skillsEffective interpersonal and engagement skillsUnderstanding of performance management processesRequiredQualifications and Training NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent NVQ Level 4 or EQF Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalentInternal Auditor qualificationTraining in incident investigationLocal PD/CDM and PSDP/PSCS trainingAwareness of lifting operations including BS7121 and IS361Temporary works awareness including understanding of the TWC roleTraining in temporary works supervisionAdditional professional development within occupational health, environment or behavioral safety.
