At Brian Perry Civil, we’re shaping careers, communities, and the future of NZ Infrastructure - this is your chance to make a real impact.About The RoleBrian Perry Civil is seeking an experienced HSE advisor to support our upcoming project to construct the Second Ashburton Bridge (2AB) on behalf of NZTA.The 2AB project will deliver a new bridge across the Hakatere/Ashburton River and a 2.9 km link road connecting Ashburton to Tinwald via rural farmland, aimed at improving transport connectivity and resilience. It includes two bridge structures (360 m and 60 m), road upgrades, greenfield construction, stormwater infrastructure, a box culvert over Carters Creek, and realignment of local drains and trails. Located 800 m downstream of the existing SH1 bridge, the project spans residential, rural, and conservation zones, with construction involving earthworks, vegetation clearance, and water management.This will be a fixed term contract for a duration of 18 months, commencing in January 2026.Coach site teams to identify and manage health, safety, and environmental risksConduct site inspections, audits, and support corrective actionsLead incident investigations and support rehabilitation processesCoordinate emergency preparedness and response across sitesSupport subcontractor safety management and complianceBuild strong relationships with regulatory bodies, iwi site monitors, and environmental consultantsWhat You’ll BringA qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, NZ Certificate)5+ years’ experience in health and safety, ideally in construction or infrastructureStrong working knowledge of NZ HSE legislation, ACC, and HSNOExperience with environmental risk management and stakeholder engagementSkilled communicator who listens, simplifies, and gets buy-inResilience, initiative, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with clarityAbout UsAt Brian Perry Civil, part of the Fletcher Building Group, we’re specialists in ground engineering and civil construction, delivering some of the most complex and technically challenging projects across New Zealand and the South Pacific.
