Job Description

*ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING SPECIALIST*\*\*\* This position requires travel approximately 50% to 75% of the time to various facilities in the United States, including rural and tribal areas. \*\*\*At *Heartland Consulting* we are looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable *Environmental Training Specialist* to design, develop and deliver training sessions to assist in the implementation and evaluation of environmental management programs. The Environmental Training Specialist will be responsible for creating attractive, accessible, and regulatory-based training materials to build capacity among assisted personnel and improve understanding of environmental compliance requirements.

*KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Design and deliver up to 10 virtual training sessions and 1 in-person national training conference on topics related to environmental compliance, risk mitigation and corrective actions. Work with the Program Manager, Technical Consultants, and Environmental Auditors to identify training needs and develop content based on audit findings and program trends. Develop training materials, including agendas, slides, brochures, case studies and post-session technical assistance resources. Ensure that all training content complies with Section 508 and is accessible to a diverse audience in tribal and federal facilities.

Facilitate interactive training sessions that emphasize best practices in hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, NEPA compliance, and audit preparation. Track attendance, feedback, and knowledge outcomes to inform continuous improvement of the training program. Provide follow-up support to training participants through Q&A, resource sharing, and individual clarification sessions as needed. *REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL PROFILE* Bachelor of Environmental Sciences, Education, Public Administration or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in providing technical training, preferably for federal, tribal, or environmental programs. Strong understanding of key environmental regulations (e. g. RCRA, CAA, TSCA, NEPA) and compliance principles.

Proven ability to create compelling instructional content and facilitate training on virtual platforms (e. g. Zoom, MS Teams) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be a U. S. citizen and eligible to work on federal contracts. Familiarity with adult learning methodologies and training assessment metrics.
