*TECHNICAL – ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE*_\*\*\* This position requires travel approximately 50% to 75% of the time to various facilities in the United States, including rural and tribal areas. \*\*\*_At *Heartland Consulting* we are looking for a trained and detail-oriented *Environmental Compliance Technician* to integrate our team of specialists to lead the implementation and evaluation of environmental management programs. He/she will be responsible for drafting, editing and formatting a wide range of compliance documents, including audit reports, executive summaries, technical assistance records, quarterly reviews and training materials.
*KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Write and edit audit reports, follow-up reports, and support deliverables in accordance with applicable federal standards. Develop clear and concise executive summaries, conclusions, narratives and root-cause analysis based on auditors' input and policy references. Ensure a consistent format, structure and language of all documents in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Incorporate technical visuals (e. g. photos, tables, graphics) and ensure that they are properly labeled and referenced in the text. Support the development of PowerPoint presentations, training materials, and summary reports for quarterly reviews and annual closing meetings.
Collaborate with auditors, program analysts, and project managers to translate field notes and findings into accurate, professional, and audience-appropriate documents. Maintain document templates and editorial standards; apply versioning to all deliverables. *REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL PROFILE* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Environmental Sciences or a related field. At least 3 years of technical writing experience for federal programs, preferably in environmental, engineering, or compliance environments. Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat domain; familiarity with SharePoint-based document systems. Excellent written English skills, including grammar, clarity, organization, and appropriate tone for government audiences.
Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You must be a U. S. citizen and eligible to work on federal contracts. Knowledge of environmental regulations (RCRA, CAA, NEPA, TSCA) and the ASTM E2107-20 audit reporting structure.
