Job Description

Director of Student Service CenterSalary: $45-50,000. 00/yearPosition PurposeLead student engagement beyond the classroom for the purpose of student development, engagement, retention and degree completion. Provide living/learning environments that include but are not limited to campus wide programming, event planning for internal/external partners, facility management, health and safety maintenance with a focus on making the facility the living room of the campus that is welcoming to all.

Duties and Responsibilities Supervise the center coordinator, custodial, and student assistant staff to maintain the daily operations of the facility with ongoing staff training of facility use protocol for recreation, lounge, meeting, educational and athletic functions. Provides oversight on equipment maintenance, rental and replacement loss-reduction protocol. Coordinate pool maintenance; liaison for pool servicing company, and become a Certified Pool/Spa Operator. Provide leadership on maintaining required levels of cleanliness that meet state and local standards. Ensures that all equipment is maintained, cleaned and inventoried each semester.

Coordinate with events and other internal/external campus partners to ensure that all planned events have flawless execution. Work with Events at Hocking to coordinate space reservations for priority, campus event needs, athletic events, student events and private rentals. Maintain and promote the Student Center events calendar through the Marketing Department in collaboration with Events at Hocking and Student Activities. Maintain relationships with and increase engagement with community/alumni memberships, silver sneakers and other revenue generating opportunities.

Support ongoing well-being activities within the facility, including but not limited to, the pool, rock wall, intramurals, physical fitness, and physical wellness events. Coordinate with the Fitness Management and Sports Management academic programs to support wellness initiatives through student internships. Conduct annual facility assessment for continuous improvement and utilization data. Generate income by promoting alumni and community fitness memberships. Serves on Graduation, Homecoming, All Hocking Learning Day and Start Week committees with responsibility for supporting planned events. Supervise and coordinate staff, equipment and needs for each project. III.

Qualifications – Education, Experience, And Skills Associate of Sport or Fitness Management, Bachelor’s Degree preferred 2-4 years of experience in recreation facility management, event planning, fitness/pool maintenance. Prior experience and strong skills in a collaborative work environment. Weekend and evening availability as required.
