Only candidates with at least three years of hotel accounting experience and strong working knowledge of Opera PMS will be considered.About The RoleAs a Hotel Financial Accountant, you will help ensure that our financial operations run smoothly, accurately, and in full compliance with both internal and external standards.You will work closely with the Finance Manager and operational teams to deliver reliable reporting, insightful analysis, and the kind of financial stability that supports every great guest experience.This role requires not just technical skill, but a genuine understanding of how hotel systems, departments, and people connect, turning numbers into meaningful insights that drive performance and service excellence.Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable and Payable: Manage and oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments, collections, and accurate reconciliations. Cash Book Management: Supervise daily cash book entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded and balanced against bank statements. Financial Records: Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions in line with accounting standards (IFRS for SMEs). Financial Control and Balance Sheet Integrity: Maintain the integrity of all balance sheet accounts and ensure full accuracy of asset and liability values. Management Accounts: Prepare and review monthly management accounts, verifying the accuracy of all supporting schedules. Cost Management: Review financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support operational efficiency. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation and manage internal controls to reduce risk. Financial Systems Optimization: Support improvements to systems and tools that enhance financial accuracy and reporting. Statutory Returns: Prepare and submit VAT, tax, and statutory returns accurately and on time. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports. Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with auditors, hotel management, and external partners to ensure smooth financial processes. Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to accounting staff, encouraging continuous learning and excellence.Qualifications And Experience Matric (Grade 12) Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent (Completed) will secure Minimum of three years of financial experience within a four or five star hotel environment (essential) Opera PMS experience (critical and non-negotiable) - hands-on working knowledge is required Proficiency in MS Excel and strong computer literacy Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Ability to work accurately, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentialityWhat We OfferAt The President Hotel, we value people who take pride in their work and contribute to something greater than themselves.
