HR Expat Coordinator

Job DescriptionJob Overview:The HR Expat Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating all HR, immigration, and expatriate support functions at the Mozambique construction site. This role ensures compliance with local labor and immigration laws, supports expatriate and local staff, and acts as a key liaison between site operations and corporate HR. The position plays a critical role in supporting the Construction Director by ensuring smooth workforce operations and regulatory compliance.ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:HR Operations & Site SupportProvide day-to-day HR support to site staff and subcontractors in collaboration with the HR leadAdvise on employee relations, disciplinary actions, and performance managementCoordinate onboarding, offboarding, and HR documentation for all site personnelConduct audits of HR processes and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulationsSupport payroll, benefits, and leave management processes in coordination with the HR teamImmigration & Expatriate CoordinationSupport visa, work permit, and immigration processes for expatriates and international staff, act as a submitter in case the responsible person is on vacationEnsure compliance with Mozambican immigration laws and timely renewals of permits and quotasMaintain accurate records of expatriate status, visa information, and immigration filingsAdministrative & Strategic SupportPrepare regular reports on HR and immigration metrics for the Construction DirectorAct as a liaison between site operations, corporate HR, and external stakeholdersSupport the Construction Director in workforce planning, compliance, and strategic HR initiativesPromote company values and ensure adherence to QHSES and Code of Conduct policiesQualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not essential Minimum 5 years of experience in HR and immigration, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.A detailed understanding of HR principles and practices Excellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to build good relationships Capability to apply discretion and maintain high levels of confidentialityKnowledge of Mozambican labor and immigration laws is an advantageEnglish and Portuguese languages at a good communication levelExperience supporting expatriate staff and managing international mobility.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.About UsOur ingenuity fuels daily life.
