Aboriginal Enterprises Australia (AEA) specialise in providing construction and maintenance services to the mining, commercial and residential sectors in remote areas of the Northern Territory and Western Australia. We strive to make a lasting and positive impact through innovation, collaboration, and respect for culture.We're currently seeking an experienced and proactive HSEQ Coordinator, based in Darwin, with the ability and willingness to travel to other sites across the NT.About the RoleThis role supports our General Manager – People, Culture and Safety to effectively deliver Aboriginal Enterprises Australia’s HSEQ systems, across projects and business operations. You will play a pivotal part in maintaining compliance, assisting with client and internal audits, supporting incident investigations, and championing the use and full implementation of HammerTech, our online HSEQ management system that digitises safety forms, inductions, inspections, and reporting across all projects.You will be both office-based and field-focused, working closely with project teams to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality are upheld.Key ResponsibilitiesAudits and ComplianceConduct internal and site audits to monitor compliance with AEA procedures, contractual obligations and legislative requirements.Support and participate in all audits, including client and regulatory.Maintain records, track corrective actions and close out statuses.Prepare reports summarising identified issues, audit outcomes, and corrective actions.Provide regular statistical analysis and trend reporting on HSEQ performance to support continuous improvement.HammerTech System ImplementationAct as the HammerTech Champion, ensuring the system is fully implemented and effectively used across all projects.Develop and deliver training sessions and user support for site and office personnel.Monitor data integrity, report usage trends, and identify areas for system improvement or refresher training.Safety and Site Engagement:Regularly attend various sites to oversee HSEQ practices and provide hands-on support.Facilitate toolbox, safety observations and field leadership activities to reinforce positive safety behaviours.Guide and support on safe work practices, SWMS compliance and hazard management.Incident and Risk Management:Support incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis.Monitor and update HSEQ risk registers.Skills, Experience and QualificationsEssentialMinimum 3 years’ experience in a HSEQ or safety coordination role, preferably in construction or maintenance projects.Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, environmental compliance, and quality systems.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence team members across all levels and communication styles.Proficient in HammerTech or similar safety management software.Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and document control processes.Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).DesirablePrevious experience supporting ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems.Demonstrated ability to conduct internal audits and prepare audit reports.Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
