HSSE Specialist

Position Objective:The HSSE Specialist is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards across all construction and infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all project activities comply with local and international HSSE regulations and that risks are effectively identified, mitigated, and managed to maintain a safe, secure, and compliant work environment.Job Description & Responsibilities:Responsible for ensuring compliance with HSSE management systems, conducting inspections, and supporting continuous improvement in health, safety, security, and environmental practices across all project phases.Implement and monitor HSSE policies, procedures, and plans aligned with company and client requirements.Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with HSSE standards and regulations.Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and security risks, recommend corrective actions, and verify implementation.Support the development and execution of emergency response and crisis management plans.Participate in incident and accident investigations, analyze root causes, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.Deliver HSSE induction, toolbox talks, and awareness training for employees, contractors, and visitors.Maintain accurate records of HSSE performance, incidents, inspections, and training activities.Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and international standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.Promote a culture of proactive safety, environmental responsibility, and security awareness across project teams.Coordinate with security personnel to ensure implementation of access control, asset protection, and site security measures.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in HSSE management within construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects.Strong knowledge of HSSE standards and regulations, including ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and relevant local laws.Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are required; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is an advantage.Proven experience in conducting site audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.Experience with emergency response planning and security coordination preferred.Proficiency in HSSE management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence.
