Class SummaryJob DescriptionThis position is part of a collaborative team and serves as partner and coach to assigned departments. The role ensures compliance with legal requirements, consults with departments about talent management (talent acquisition, employee development, and performance management), provides guidance on employee relations matters, and facilitates HR training sessions. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, able to thrive in a team-oriented work environment, and possess coaching, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in HR information systems, data analytics, problem-solving, attention to detail, task prioritization, and time management are essential.Essential DutiesPartner with department leaders to assess business needs and develop HR strategies that align with organizational goals and comply with HR policiesProvide coaching and guidance to address performance management, resolve conflicts, and navigate disputesProvide support through process improvements and structural and operational changesEnsure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and county policy requirementsRecommend disciplinary actions for employee misconduct, ensuring adherence to county policiesPerform talent management functions, including talent acquisition, drug testing facilitation, salary analyses, and HRIS data managementProcess a high volume of personnel actionsLeave managementRepresent Gwinnett County at Department of Labor hearingsPublic Speaking DutiesConduct and facilitate supervisory and employee training about HR topicsRepresent HR as speaker at internal and external meetingsOther Job Requirements/InformationThis job requires fingerprinting.This job may require hours, weekends, and/or holidays.Human Resources SpecialistThe grade for this position is C41(1).Salary Range: $58,649 - $68,180. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in human resources, business administration, finance, or a closely related field such as organizational leadership and management; ANDFour years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the stated specialty areas: talent management, employee relations, HR compliance; ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.Human Resources Associate IIIThe grade for this position is C42(1).Salary Range: $63,780 - $74,145.
